ABOUT US
Emeth Zoo is a small “hobby breeder project” of a variety of reptiles and invertebrates operated by two grade school children. It was born from our fascination of studying animal life-cycles. The name comes from the first two letters of Emmy’s name and the last three letters of Seth’s name, and was started as a "game" we played with our toys.
Over the years we have collected and hatched caterpillars to watch them turn into butterflies, lay eggs, and start the cycle again. In 2016 we hatched our first mantis ootheca (egg case) and were fascinated to watch them grow from tiny nymphs into large adult mantis which eventually laid their own ootheca. We have also enjoyed collecting frog eggs and watching the tadpoles hatch out and grow into frogs before releasing them back into the pond we caught them in.
In the fall of 2016 we purchased our first Crested Geckos, and the summer of 2017 saw our first baby Crested Geckos hatch. A few months later, while attending a reptile show, we purchased a pair of Gargoyle Geckos, and have produced some beautiful and healthy baby gargoyles over the past few years.
In addition to these breeding projects, we enjoy taking care of our Mexican Milk Snake named Morti, a pair of Northern Blue Tongue Skinks, a trio of Geyri Uromastix, a Hermann's tortoise, and a variety of invertebrates including mantis, walking sticks, tailless whip scorpions, tarantulas, and a number of species of isopods.
