Chinese Praying Mantis

We had a mantis ootheca hatch out on July 21, 2024 - and mantis are now available.

Chinese Mantis are currently one of the only species of mantis that is legal to keep in Canada as a pet (without special permits). Orchid and ghost mantis are not legal in Canada. The requirements of the Chinese Mantis are relatively simple making them easy to care for. As young nymphs they eat flightless fruit flies - and as they grow they will eat a variety of insects including house flies, crickets, meal worms, and other larva.
