We have Diapheromera femorata eggs ready to go.

$20 for 20 eggs. Due to differing laws on invertebrates in different provinces - we are unable to ship these eggs.

Diapheromera femorata are the only species of walking stick that are legal to keep in Canada.

Although they can be hatched on damp vermiculite at room temperature - we hatch ours on an ABG mix with live springtails to help control mold during the incubation process. We can sell an incubation chamber with AGB mix and live springtails for an additional $15 if you like.

Sometimes called Northern walking sticks or the common walking stick - they are part of an order of insects call phasmids. This species is established in Southern parts of Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Once hatched, we raise our stick insects on a diet of raspberry leaves - but will eat leaves from raspberry, blackberry, red oak, privet, rose, hazelnut or hawthorn. They can be fed on frozen/thawed leaves over the winter when access to fresh leaves is not available. In our experience eggs hatch at room temperature in 3-8 months, but in some cases can take up to one year to hatch. We also have nymphs available in the spring - once leaves come out on the trees/bushes.
